Young dogs classes
We offer 2 different classes for Young dogs – a follow on class from Puppy class and then a class for ‘overexcitable and wild’ (often adolescent dogs).
This provides a clear pathway for those starting with a puppy to take you from puppy right through adolescence and beyond.
Our Young Dogs class is aimed at those dogs who are approx 6m+ where you want to build on from the skills in the Puppy class, or what you have been teaching at home. It continues to embed current skills (such as loose lead walking and recall) as well as teaching new skills. We teach some aspects of dealing with overexcitement with other dogs and people, as well as tackling frustration based behaviours (barking, lunging, jumping up etc).
The Overexcitable class is for any dog – whether you have trained with us before or not. Its so common to have a dog who is overexcitable around other dogs and people – this commonly results in poor recall, pulling and lunging on lead, barking, running distances to meet a dog or person and jumping up (to name a few). This class aims to teach 1 or 2 new skills a week, giving time for you to practice in a very small class of just 4 people.
Both classes can be repeated – some dogs take time to embed the skills and people enjoy having a slower pace to fit their practice into their home lives.
Each class is structured, with home learning resources sent to help you practice on focused skills each week.
